Story Ideas

Evidence of researching story Ideas
Coming up with our idea of our opening sequence was quite hard as many ideas we come up, were not original as they have been used in many other thriller films. For instance one idea we came up with was to film a kidnapping taking place in a truck, however this has been seen in many other films before and also it would have been quite hard to film. Another idea we thought of was to begin the opening sequence by a lake and create a spooky feeling, however this has also been seen in Friday the 13th.
            However, then we researched through youtube and came across another students thriller opening scene and we were completely inspired by it and felt we could adapt on it. The opening sequence of their thriller showed cross cuts of a victim running away from their killer to the murder scene of other victims. There was non diegetic sound throughout and no diegetic sound, there was slow scary music playing as well which gave it that scary feeling.
            Another idea we have developed from another thriller story is the fact that we do not want our killer identified just like the killer in ‘scream’ isn’t identified until the very end. We thought this was a good idea and wanted to adapt on it as we thought it keeps the audience in suspense.

Treatment

Treatment

The main character will be walking by himself to an unknown location, throughout the opening sequence he will be walking past empty areas to give the feel of loneliness.

The walking sequence will be a montage and will be filmed in different locations like;
Empty streets, market place, bus/ train

Throughout the sequence we will use cross cuts of the characters past memories and the victims he has killed.

The opening sequence will be accompanied by calm piano music (minor key) the final decision to what song will be made in post editing but the choices are.

The saturation will be turned down in post production to give a dull miserable feeling.
